Debuting Tonight: A Brazen New Aussie Web Series Called ‘Sexy Herpes’
There’s a new Aussie web series on the way, and it’s called Sexy Herpes. Yes, really. No, it’s not graphic. But it is unflinching as it delves into the myriad situations that can arise when working in a rural sexual health clinic. Don’t believe me? The first episode is called ‘Horsefucker‘.

Web Series Wednesday: Sexy Herpes
Madeleine and I hail from regional QLD and were lucky enough to cross paths studying a creative degree at University of Southern QLD from 2006-08.
Since then, we’ve been based in Sydney and Melbourne and have studied under private mentors from AFTRS and IFSS. After numerous shorts and pilot teaser reels failing to break through the traditional barriers, we were hungry to enter the web series space as filmmakers.

It plays an important part in our social, personal and emotional lives – and increasingly featured on our screens. Sex, not just as a physical action, is an important display on screen as a means of bringing different sexualities and sexual experiences to the spotlight to create new and unique stories. Whether it’s through the experiences of a gay sexual health nurse, like series Sexy Herpes (AUS), the process of a new relationship forming, like Freudian Slip (AUS), or the sexual and emotional experiences from the greater community, like the ones featured in Confess (ISR), a distinctiveness shines through.

Web series review
It seems as though when it comes to sex and sexuality, nothing is off the table with Sexy Herpes. Australia has done it again and generated a magnificent web series that dives head first into the hot topic of sexuality in the 21st century, taking no prisoners. The first episode opens on a prostitute standing outside of a sexual health clinic looking for work for crying out loud!

Sexy Herpes – Daniel Mulvihill
When it comes to Australian television and web-series over the years, Australia has always outdone themselves when it comes to comedy. Shows like The Late Show and Comedy Company made Australian comedy shine on the small screen. Then in recent years, comedy web-series like Bruce and Little Acorns have put Australia back into the comedy spotlight.
